~ tipping point ~ by blumwurks
I’ve been thinking quite a bit about motivation lately.
At work these days, I have to be very self-motivated. Since I work from home, no one is looking over my shoulder to see what time I punch in and what work I do during the day.
For the most part, I haven’t had a problem with staying motivated to get the job done.
When it comes to more personal goals — exercise, nutrition, personal passion projects like this blog — I’ve had trouble this year keeping up my motivation. I find that I’m interested in something for about a week and then I’m not.
A few years ago, while doing a 12-step program, one of the concepts that was frequently brought up was “fake it till you make it.” I’m attempting that with the blog this month. I’m trying not to be overly critical about the things I post. In fact, I’m trying not to re-read them at all. I’m trying to post 31 posts in 31 days and hoping that the “fake it till you make it” strategy will provide a tipping point and keep me motivated further along the way.
I’m hoping to do the same thing with other personal goals in my life.
